Landslide: 26th victim found hugging his pet dog

HULU SELANGOR - The body of man was found buried under 4.5 metres of deep soil at a campsite near Father's Organic Farm, Jalan Genting, here, making him the 26th victim of the landslide tragedy.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department operations director Hafisham Mohd Noor said the man was found hugging a dog, which is believed to be his pet.

He added the remains were recovered in Sector B, at about 11.19am earlier.

"We found the victim with two of his dogs. We found the man hugging one of the dogs.

"There is a major possibility that they had set up a tent in sector A and it was brought all the way down by the landslide," he said in a press conference here today (Wednesday).

Hafisham said the search and rescue (SAR) operations entered its sixth day and was proceeding smoothly following several positive leads.

The continous determination and hardwork by the SAR team, have led to the recoveries of several more victims today, he added.

"SAR operations were still ongoing and now focused on Section C, however, if the weather condition worsens, we will halt the operations," he added.

Hulu Selangor Police Chief Superintendent Suffian Abdullah said the police was still in the process of identifying the man found.

"The man's age and identity were not identified yet and the body was brought to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

"Two dogs were found with the body and was given to the Veterinary Department for further action," he said.
