Flood inundated Kemaman hospital, situation under control
SHAH ALAM – As the water level began to rise at several places on the East Coast, it also saw several buildings inundated with flood water which include Kemaman Hospital.
A post had circulated on Facebook by user Ikhwan Abdullah, which showed a photo of the maternity ward of the hospital was flooded, while another video in the same showed the flood situation outside of the hospital.
Although the water level was only about ankle deep from the photo circulated, it could create worries among the public.
However, Besut Civil Defence Force (APM) officer Suhaimi Awang when contacted assured that the flood at Hospital Kemaman’s maternity ward had started to recede and that the situation was under control.
He stated that the situation was currently stable, and there were no significant problems in the maternity ward.
“There were no major problems in the maternity ward, no power cut, and the situation in the city area is stable.
Suhaimi also explained that the rain was so heavy that the river overflowed, which led to the flood at Hospital Kemaman.
“The rain was so heavy that the river could not hold all the water.
“It was like a flash flood, but the surge is happening throughout Terengganu,” he said.
Currently, Terengganu is expecting to brace for the second wave of flooding, which authorities explained would be worse than the first one that hit the state earlier this month.
