Tun M remains as Pejuang member, says Mukhriz

ALOR SETAR - Parti Pejuang Tanahair (Pejuang) has accepted Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's decision to step down as the party's chairman.

Its president, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir said even though Dr Mahathir has stepped down as the chairman of the party, he would still remain as a member of the party.

He said every member of the party have unaniously agree and supported that Dr Mahathir's construtive views and critics were needed.

"As a great statesman, we believe he will continue to give his critical opinions for the betterment of the country. This is what the members of the party is hoping for. Hopefully Malaysia continues to prosper under Dr Mahathir's legacy," he said in a statement.

Mukhriz stressed that Dr Mahathir's fight, legacy and his spirit as the former Langkawi parliamentarian will be continued.

"We would like to extend our greatest gratitude to Dr Mahathir. Only Allah SWT can repay his good deeds," he added.

Last Friday, Dr Mahathir was reported to have resigned as Pejuang chairman, however, sources said that the former Prime Minister will remain as Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) chairman.

It was reported that Dr Mahathir will make an official announcement soon.
