SHAH ALAM - The Malaysian Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) is concerned about the issue of deportation of 114 Myanmar nationals.

This was following the High Court's decision to cancel the interim stay order preventing their repatriation on Dec 13.

The Court of Appeal is scheduled to hear the application for a stay of execution on Dec 20 (Tuesday).

Suhakam chairman Datuk Dr Rahmat Mohamad urged the Minister of Home Affairs to take action and stop this referral process to allow an independent body to contact these individuals to conduct a proper assessment in an appropriate environment.

“As a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council, it is important for Malaysia to continue efforts to find a lasting solution to this long-standing issue.
