PM to inspect landslide location tonight

SHAH ALAM - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to inspect the landslide site at Father's Organic Farm in Jalan Genting-Batang Kali, later today.

In a statement, Anwar instructed for all related government departments to conduct systematic search and rescue operations.

Anwar said that he was currently being updated about the incident by the relevant ministries and the Selangor Menteri Besar.

" I have given the necessary instructions and also have asked for all the ministers from the relevant ministries to go on site, I have also advised them to not disturb or disrupt the search and rescue mission.

" Please keep everyone in your prayers and also pray for the search and rescue mission to go smoothly," he said.

In a separate statement Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad informed that he would be visiting the site today at 2pm.

It was reported that two individuals, a woman and a child have been confirmed dead, while 51 are still missing and 23 are safe in the pre dawn incident.

The landslide occurred near a farmhouse that provides camping facilities.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Norazam Khamis said firefighters began arriving at the scene at about 3am after receiving a distress call at 2.24am.
