Ezam Mohd Nor is PRM’s new deputy chairman
SHAH ALAM - Datuk Mohamad Ezam Mohd Nor has officially been appointed as Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) deputy chairman following Tan Chow Kang resignation from the position on Dec 11.
PRM information chief Tan Kang Yap in a statement said Chow Kang would still maintain his position as a central committee member (AJKP).
"At the same time, he (Chow Kang) suggests for Ezam to take his place. This proposal was unanimously approved by all AJKP who attended the meeting," he said on Wednesday.
Based on experience, Kang Yap said Chow Kang had been involved in politics for a long time and had served as a member of the Sidan state assembly.
He was appointed as the Kedah exco holding the Environment and Chinese Community Affairs portfolio.
He said Ezam was one of the individuals who led the reform movement when Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was dismissed from his post of deputy prime minister.
"Ezam also held the position of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) youth chairman. He also contested in the 15th General Election (GE15) for the Petaling Jaya Parliament.
Kang Yap said Chow Kang had voluntarily resigned from his position to give way for someone of a higher calibre.
"There's nothing but hope that Ezam will use his experience and leadership abilities to take the party to greater heights," Chow Kang said.
