Residents alarmed by crocodile roaming on the road
KUANTAN - It was a frightening moment for residents in Kampung Seri Damai when a crocodile roamed on the street in the area.
The incident was recorded by a resident who realised the reptile’s presence before the video went viral on social media.
The 29-second video was uploaded by Pulau Manis assemblyman Mohammad Rafiq Khan Ahmad Khan.
He said he obtained the video from one of the residents of the village.
He said the resident who passed by Jalan Air Hitam at about 9pm on Monday saw the crocodile that came from Sungai Belat.
"We have been informed that the area was a crocodile habitat and when it rains and water spills over on the road, crocodiles tend to roam in the area.
“Coincidentally, this was the first time it was caught on video by a resident and went viral on social media," he told Sinar Harian on Tuesday.
He advised the public to steer clear of the road for safety reasons.
"Parents must ensure that their children is not playing in the waters in the area to avoid unwanted incidents from happening,” he said.
