KUALA TERENGGANU - Flood situations in Terengganu improves as the number of evacuees reduced from 199 people from 53 families as of 8am today (Tuesday), compared to 659 people on Monday.

The State Disaster Management Committee spokesperson, in a statement earlier, said seven temporary temporary flood relief centres (PPS) Kuala Terengganu were still currently active.

The PPS are located in Kuala Nerus, Kemaman, Dungun, Besut and Setiu districts to house flood victims.

"Kuala Terengganu recorded the highest number of victims with 84 people from 26 families where they were placed in two PPS; Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Atas Tol and SK Chendering.

"In Kuala Nerus, there were 54 victims from12 families which were housed in SK Bukit Nanas while 24 victims were placed at SK Tok Kah PPS ," the statement said.

So far, only one PPS was still open in Kemaman, Besut and Setiu, it added.

"The Padang Kemunting Community Hall in Kemaman houses 23 victims from four families and in Besut, 12 victims were currently taking refuge at Kampung Pantai Community Hall.

"Whereas, Setiu recorded the smallest number of victims with only two residents from one family placed at Kampung Nyatoh Surau," it said.
