Muafakat Nasional opens membership application

SHAH ALAM - Application to join Muafakat Nasional (MN) as a member has been opened since Saturday.

This was shared by its president Tan Sri Annuar Musa through a post on his Facebook.

Annuar said the application was supposed to be opened next week, but due to many requests, it was opened earlier through the official MN website at https://muafakatnasional.org.my.

"Muafakat Nasional membership application opened earlier (than expected).

"It should be next week. However, due to many requests, we pushed it (the date) earlier." he said.

Annuar’s former special officer Fariz Hadi said the application to be a member of MN received encouraging responses.

"In less than an hour, 1,000 applications have been received," he said.

Previously, MN was a collaboration party between Umno and Pas which was formed in 2019, a year after Pakatan Harapan (PH) formed the government after the 14th General Election (GE14).

On Nov 25, the former Umno secretary-general decided to "activate" MN, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that he founded.

He said MN will be activated to foster cooperation and unity among the ummah and strengthen the integrity of the country's political system based on the Rukun Negara and Federal Constitution.

On Friday, Umno confirmed that Annuar was sacked from the party automatically under Clause 20.11 and Clause 20.9 of the Umno Constitution.

This was following criticism made against Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, in addition to being accused of helping the campaign of a rival party in GE15.
