Three rivers in Terengganu breach danger level

KUALA TERENGGANU - Three rivers in Terengganu in Hulu Terengganu and Setiu districts is showing an upward trend and have passed the danger level following continuous heavy rain since yesterday.

According to publicinfobanjir.water.gov.my, an update at 7.30am today show Sungai Telemong in Kuala Ping, Hulu Terengganu was at a level of 20.76m, 1.06 metre above the danger level.

Two more rivers in Setiu, namely Sungai Chalok at the Chalok Bridge recorded 9.02m level, 0.62 metre above the danger level; and Sungai Nerus in Kampung Langkap at 21.29 metre, 0.29 metre above the danger level.

Sungai Nerus in Kampung Bukit, Setiu also showed an upward trend and had exceeded the warning level with a height of 12.17 meters.

In similar developments, weather conditions in Terengganu today showed cloudy conditions, light and heavy rain in most areas.

Yesterday, Malaysian Meteorology Department issued a warning of continuous rain at alert level that was expected to occur in four states from Dec 8 to 10.

Continuous rain was predicted to occur in Perak (Hulu Perak and Kuala Kangsar), Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang (Jerantut, Maran, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin).
