KOTA BHARU - Former Environment and Water minister Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man stressed that he never signed any Acceptance Letter (SST) to any company related to the RM15 billion flood mitigation project.

The Pas deputy president said in that regard, there was no question of canceling the projects because there had not been any approval.

He said the east coast has been plagued by the issue of floods for several decades now, which have caused losses between RM6 billion to RM7 billion each time the disaster struck.

" There seemed to be no concrete steps taken to solve the problem, so during the time of former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob he saw the need for large funds amounting to RM15 million to be allocated towards solving the issue.

" We did not implement it and was in the process of determining what needed to be prioritised," he said when met at the Kelantanku Bersih Day 2022 Celebration Ceremony at the Perdana Hotel, here, on Thursday.

Tuan Ibrahim said the allocation was not only for flood mitigation, but it was also to improve the system.

" For example the plan was to improve on MetMalaysia's system and to develop a more advanced early flood warnings for users, but the plans were yet have even a single approval and I had never released any form of SST to any company," he stressed.

He said it was the right of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to review the flood mitigation project that amounted to RM7 billion from the entire allocation.
