KUALA LUMPUR - Sentul police launch a series of raids on 20 gambling and 19 prostitution dens around the district since January.

Sentul district police chief Assistant Commissioner Beh Eng Lai said most of premises that were raided were shophouses rented by prostitution and gambling syndicates to carry out the activities.

"As a result of the raid carried out, a total of seven premises had their electricity supply cut off on March 2 while another two premises had their power supply cut off by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) today," he said in a statement on Tuesday.

Beh said the authorities would continue to cut off the power supply of such premises from time to time as a measure to reduce prostitution and gambling activities in the area.

“Cutting off the power supply of these premises were done in accordance with the Electricity Supply Act 1990," he said.

Beh said strict action would be taken against individuals who were found violating the law.

"People who have any information regarding these activities could channel the information by contacting the Sentul district police headquarters Operations Room at 03-40482206," he said.
