KUCHING - Sarawak will discuss proposals to improve the facilities of the state's tourism locations with Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

State Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the focus must be on nature-based tourism locations and national parks.

"Nowadays tourists come to Sarawak, not to shop, but to experience nature because most of them live in big cities. This tourist attraction must have good facilities such as toilets, parking and so on," he said when met by reporters after attending an event here today.

Abdul Karim said he was happy to see a Sarawakian become the Minister of Tourism at the federal level although he has yet to meet Tiong.

"He (Tiong) is a Sarawakian and is easier to talk to or contact. Sarawakians will help promote Sarawak," he said.
