KUALA LUMPUR - The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDNKSH) will hold a meeting with all industry players on cooking oil and egg shortage, tomorrow (Tuesday).

Its minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said the meeting was aimed at obtaining the latest information over the crisis of shortage of the two essential goods.

"I have scheduled several meetings with the industry players. We will call all of them and we will meet with palm oil industry players such as the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) and Sime Darby Plantation Bhd to get the latest information on supply issues.

"A meeting with the chicken egg industry player will probably be held the next day so that I could get the data and a quick discussion," he said.

He was speaking to reporters after a walkabout programme at NSK Trade City wholesale supermarket here on Monday.

Salahuddin said the outcome of the meeting will enhance the ministry's relationship with industry players, thus solving the crisis of basic goods supplies.

"I have heard about issues of complaints by the people and today I witnessed for myself that there are at least two big issues that I must face with the ministry team which is the issue of insufficient supply of eggs and cooking oil packets.

"It's my responsibility to look at it holistically and I've heard a briefing from the ministry this morning (Monday) in general and went down to see whether there are sufficient supplies," he said.
