Distribute equal allocations to all MPs
SHAH ALAM - All MPs, including those from the opposition must be given equal allocations.
Pas information chief Ir Khairil Nizam Khirudin said the matter was also written in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) manifesto, the coalition currently leading the unity government.
"In the previous Dewan Negara debate, Perikatan Nasional (PN) put forward an argument which is in order to create good cooperation between the government and the opposition, the basic thing that needs to be prioritised is that the allocation of MPs must be equal as a whole.
"We see that the symbiotic relationship between the opposition and the government needs to be implemented transparently without conditions like what was being practiced during PN and the Keluarga Malaysia government," he said in a post on Facebook on Sunday.
The Jerantut MP said PN promised four criteria that should be prioritised as an opposition through a constructive, collaborative, responsible and loyal approach.
He said the promise would be fulfilled through a more effective debate, developing policies that benefit the people and honesty in carrying out the responsibility as the people's voice.
"The four criteria that PN promised to the people are important for the trust that has been given to us," he said.
He added that the Parliament's institutional transformation agenda must be prioritised, including the empowerment of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and other committees.
He said it was to ensure that every government’s journey was based on the integrity and interests of the people, rejecting the culture of corruption, cronyism and monopoly.
"PN will ensure that these four approaches are implemented effectively for us to play a check and balance role that is effective and beneficial to the people and the country.
"We all dream of a government that does not bring up grudges and old disputes but continues to focus on the agenda of helping the people to face the economic and social crisis that are becoming more and more worrying," he said
