Fahmi Fadzil claps back at Muhyiddin's ‘disappointing cabinet’ remark
SHAH ALAM - Digital Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil claps back at Perikatan Nasional chairman, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin over the criticism of the Cabinet Ministers that was announced last night.
Fahmi, who is also the Lembah Pantai MP, advised the opposition to stop throwing shade to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the cabinet was not announced in his favour.
“Maybe he (Muhyiddin) forgot, but this is not the Pakatan Harapan government where the Prime Minister can appoint whomever he wants.
“This is a unity government that was formed jointly, where important policies or decisions will be made in consultation, including the issue of appointing the Cabinet Ministers.
“Compared to three previous administrations and reflecting on what had happened, the premier, party leaders and coalitions in the unity government had decided that the cabinet ministers were elected by their own party and coalitions,” he said in a statement on his Facebook post, today.
Fahmi said that based on the mistakes made in 2018, where cartel groups in the party were being weaponised and creating a “party within a party” situation - which had damaged the party’s political stability.
“This is an important change to avoid mistakes that have occurred in every administration since 2018, where the appointment of the Cabinet is often made not according to the party's main leadership channels,” he said.
He further contended Muhyiddin to stop the polemic attacks that could confuse the people and reminded Muhyiddin of his own issues, including 1BestariNet and RM500 billion funds that were allegedly spent during the pandemics.
Muhyiddin previously on his Facebook post, criticised Anwar's cabinet choice, especially on Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's appointment as the deputy prime minister, as the latter is currently facing court cases.
He also questioned Anwar's worth as a leader when he could not even stand up in defence of his own party's struggle to fight against corruption and promote good governance
