Quality education, affordable prices of goods are what Malaysians are rooting for

MELAKA - Quality education system, affordable prices of goods are what Malaysians are looking for from the new government.

Sinar Daily on-the-ground spoke to some locals here in Melaka on their views about the newly appointed prime minister and government.

Speaking to a local resident here, homemaker Gayaetari Tanaraj, 49 is looking forward o on what the new government has to offer.

"I would love to see a change in terms of education and economy.

"Its enough for our children to carry bags that weighs a ton to school daily. Also our education is far behind compared to countries abroad so I want to see a trendmendous change in the education system," she said As for physiotherapist Nurul Amalina, 25 she would like for the new government to consider minimum wage, "I want the government to bring a significant difference in terms of wages. RM1,500 as minimum wage is not enough to survive due to the high cost of living currently.

"The government should also look into job qualifications and training as fresh graduates must be given more of a chance to work in certain industries," she said.

Amanina added that she felt that this is the right time for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to serve as a prime minister.

She also believes that Anwar Ibrahim can lead the country and improve the nation's economy due to his expertise in the field.

"He is well-known globally and I believe he can lead the country well." she said.

Meanwhile, homemaker Victoria Vincent, 38, urged the new government to re-look into making basic necessities affordable.

"If prices of goods itself are getting expensive day by day, how can we survive? If a middle class family itself are suffering, what about the poor?.

"We understand, it's not easy to bring a huge change in a short time, but we hope the government will find a way to not burden Malaysians again," she said
