The Straight Path Convention participants look forward to more enriching lectures, next year
SYDI ALIFKUALA LUMPUR - Participants at The Straight Path (TSP) Convention 2022 express their excitement to join the annual 'ilm (knowledge) quenching event again next year as well as the years to come.
As an official media partner of the convention, Sinar Daily held a giveaway contest in which followers had the chance to win tickets to participate in the two-day event at the Bank Rakyat Twin Towers over the weekend (Nov 26 and 27).
A winner of the ticket Nur Adibah Mohd Sukri, 22, described her experience at the convention as "captivating, motivating and astonishing".
She said she gained a lot of knowledge during the convention and among them was on facing the challenges in life.
“Among the things I learnt throughout the two days is that no matter what challenges you are facing, don't look at how big it is, but look at how big Allah's mercy is towards us.
"I could only describe my experience in three words, it is captivating, motivating and astonishing," she told Sinar Daily.
On winning the giveaway, Nur Adibah said she did not expect that she would win.
She said she hoped that Sinar Daily would organise more giveaways for events like TSP.
“If there are such contests, I would surely enter and try to win again,” she said.
Another winner of the ticket giveaway, Nurain Afiqah Mohd Sukri, from Bangi said it was the best weekend she ever had.
The 23-year old who took the train from Bangi to Kuala Lumpur to attend the event said it was a worthwhile experience.
During the convention, she said she tried to gain as much knowledge as she could through the international standard lectures on religion in line with the Quran and Sunnah.
Quoting the master of ceremonies (emcee) of the convention Faisal Abdul Latif, Nurain said it was one of the things in the convention that touched her heart.
“A quote that touched my heart the most was the one shared by Faisal which was “wasting time is worse than death, because death separates you from this world whereas wasting time separates you from Allah (Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim)," she said.
She added that she hoped that she will be able to attend more lectures by international Islamic scholars such as Nouman Ali Khan, Mufti Menk, Zakir Naik, Sheikh Hussain Yee and many others.
Nurjanah Nenwari, 37, who came all the way from Singapore said this was not her first time participating in the convention.
She said she started following the annual convention with her husband since 2016, but this time, she attended the convention with the ticket she won in the giveaway contest.
She said she hoped to see a combination of recent and previous speakers like Mufti Menk in the convention.
“With such giveaway contest, I really hope that it will reach out further to others who have not heard of TSP when we share it on our social media.
"Three of my friends (who saw my post on social media) have asked if they could join me next year,” she said.
On the other hand, Izzatul Syazwani, 28, who participated in the convention for the first time said she will start reminding herself that knowledge gathering and classes are not merely sacrifices, but part of an investment for the hereafter.
“Through the event, I got to know about speakers like Sheikh Said Rageah and Dr Sajid Umar who made up the great line-up of speakers.
“Hopefully, I will be able to join next year,” she said.
Another first-timer Nurul Nabilah W Mohd Noor, 26, said she decided the join the giveawy contest as she felt that the topics of lectures were interesting adding that she did not expect that she would win the tickets.
“To summarise, the two-day event was subtle, but at the same time, weighty.
“The theory parts were delivered with clarity and details, but my most favourite part is when each of the speakers shared methods and practical ways that we could use and practise in our daily life.
"My wish is for TSP to continue bringing the best of topics, the best emcees, the best of crews in the future and to keep up the good work in order to get dakwah further and broader,” she added.
TSP is an annual ‘ilm quenching Islamic convention enriched with international standard lectures on religion in line with the Quran and Sunnah.
Themed “Al-Wahn: Desiring Dunya, Belittling Hereafter”, the convention is a wake-up call for the Ummah to learn from the past, realise and reform the present and work to build a bright future based on the true spirit of faith that Allah promised.
It is yet another joint effort between Dakwah Corner Bookstore and Yayasan Ta’lim as the organisers since it began in 2015.
The esteemed speakers line up comprised Imam of a mosque in Jeddah Sheikh Assim Alhakeem, Mufti and judge Sheikh Dr Sajid Umar, founder of Huda Mosque in Montreal Sheikh Saeed Rageah, Unisel adjunct professor Dr Zaharuddin Abd Rahman and founder and chief executive officer of Interactive Dakwah and Tarbiyah Association (IDT) Lim Jooi Soon.
