KUALA TERENGGANU - A boy drowned while swimming with his family at Chendering Beach, here, in an incident on Wednesday.

Kuala Terengganu Fire and Rescue Services Department chief Rozizah Abni Hajar said the four-year old victim Akhar Raif Muhamad Rafie was found by locals at the scene of the incident before the rescue team arrived.

"We received a call regarding the incident at 5.49 pm and a team was deployed to the scene of the incident.

"As they arrived, the victim had been brought to the shore.

“The victim was handed over to the medical team before being pronounced dead and brought to the hospital," she said when contacted on Thursday.

Rozizah said the operations ended at 6.32pm.

She said the public was advised not to perform any watersport activities at the beach or the river during the Northeast Monsoon season.

"The public is asked to be more aware of the current weather conditions and obey the advice of authorities.

The Kuala Terengganu District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rahim Md Din when contacted confirmed the incident.
