Father and son attacked by crocodile
LAHAD DATU - A father and son were attacked by a crocodile while rowing a boat in the waters off the Lahad Datu Marine operations base.
Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Department (BBP) Chief Sumsoa Rashid said the incident was reported at 10.25am and six personnel rushed to the location.
It was learnt that when the crocodile had reached up to grab the boy, his father tried to fight it off and pulled his son out of the crocodile's jaws.
" Witnesses said there were two victims involved who were paddling in the waters and were then attacked by a crocodile.
" The father was successfully saved by the public while his one-year old child has yet to been found," he said
He said the victim was sent to the Lahad Datu Hospital by ambulance.
"The victim was injured and has been sent to the hospital for further treatment.
"The efforts of finding the other victim is being done through the method of searching on the water surface together with PPM.
" We are using the boats in the area the victim was reported to have been attacked by the crocodile," he said.
