Mohamad Syazreen Ezam Mohd Saidi said it should not be left unchecked as it also involves national sovereignty and security.
"We would like to urge the police to immediately open investigation papers so that this ridiculous matter can be stopped," he told reporters before lodging a police report at the Putrajaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) today.
Syazreen said evidence of the allegations will be submitted to the police for further action.
"We noticed a viral audio on WhatsApp that said Anwar was getting help from Israel, while yesterday (Monday) there was a post on the same thing on his Facebook page," he said.
Meanwhile, Royal Malaysian Police secretary Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin confirmed that she had received the report.
She said the Classified Criminal Investigations Department (USJT), Prosecution Division and Legal D5, and the Federal police from the Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) are hendling the case.
"The case has been classified under Section 504, Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998," she said.
On Monday, Anwar was reported to have ordered police to take action against those who depicted him as an Israeli agent.
