SEREMBAN - DAP says it will lodge a police report against Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang if the latter's statement of DAP was spreading and promoting Islamophobia was found slanderous.

DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the statement was an attempt to challenge DAP.

"But we have to be patient and if there are any matters we think is slanderous, a police report would be lodged," he said.

He said such when met by reporters after attending state's budget meeting, here, today.

The media on Sunday reported that Hadi claimed that DAP was an extreme party despite presenting Malay members, candidates and leaders but its ideology contradicts Islam.

Hadi's lengthy Facebook post appeared to be a response to the criticism that PAS rode on a hate campaign by playing race rhetoric to win support at the 15th general election.

Hadi suggested the allegation was DAP propaganda aimed at portraying Pas as an Islamic extremist party.

Pas won a record high numbers of 42 MPs in Dewan Rakyat on the back of a massive Malay vote swing in the northern poor states.
