ROMPIN - Pakatan Harapan (PH) decides to give way to Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates for the 15th General Election (GE15) of the Tioman State Legislative Assembly (Dun) as a sign of the Unity Government's agreement at the state and national levels.

Amanah Negara (Amanah) Secretary-General Datuk Dr Mohd Hatta Md Ramli said to ensure that BN candidate Datuk Seri Mohd Johari Hussain who represented this Unity Government gained victory, the PH election machinery would move together in every BN campaign.

He said Amanah saw the election for the Dun seat as a clash between the new Pahang state government and racial and religious extremist groups that must be dealt with seriously.

"In that spirit, Amanah sees the need to create unity among the state government components in opposing Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidates.

"Hopefully with this cooperation, the integrity of the Unity Government led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim can be strengthened for the benefit of the people, religion and the country," he said in a statement on Tuesday.

In the meantime, PH also appreciated the approval of His Majesty, the Regent of Pahang, Tengku Mahkota Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, for the formation of the state government.

"We also congratulate the Jelai State Assembly Member, Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail for the consent of the Regent of Pahang to be appointed as Menteri Besar of Pahang," he added.

The race for the Tioman state assembly seat saw a clash between incumbents from BN Mohd Johari, Sulaiman Bakar (Independent), Osman Bakar (Pejuang) and PN candidate Nor Idayu Hashim after PH candidate Mohd Fadzli Mohd Ramly gave way to the BN candidate.
