PUTRAJAYA - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim called for civil servants to come together and bring change to save the country.

He said Malaysia had once achieved greatness at a high level, however standards have unfortunately declined.

"In the history of the country, successive governments named civil servants as pillars of governance to support the system and administration and to keep it afloat,"

Anwar was addressing civil servants attached to the Prime Minister's office here on Tuesday.

Anwar said that Malaysia had fallen in terms of economics, discipline, violations of the law, irregularities and corruption related to the weakness of leaders and civil servants.

" We cannot assume that things will continue as they were, change must come from all sectors, from ministries to departments within ministries we must accept change so that I will not be too worried thinking about the problems among civil servants," he stressed

He urged for every civil servant to prepare themselves for the future.

" Violations and negligence is a thing of the past, I'm not interested in digging up the past."

Anwar in his speech also reminded that any acquisition without a tender could no longer happen amd that corruption will no longer be tolerated.

He said strict measures needed to be taken across all levels of ministries, departments and agencies

" I call upon everyone to be determined in saving Malaysia," he said.
