Beware of bad advisors, ex-FT Mufti advises Anwar
SHAH ALAM - Beware of bad advisors (bitanah al-su’), former minister in the prime minister's department (religious affairs) reminds Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
This, Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri said was because the group were able to lift the newly-appointed PM and at the same time they could also bring him down.
The former Federal Territories Mufti reminded that Malaysia is a Muslim nation that is well respected and Anwar should appreciate the sacrifices and struggles of the previous generations in raising Malaysia's name in the eyes of the world.
"You are the successor and decider. Preserve Islam in this homeland with all your heart and soul," he said in a Facebook post, recently.
He said previous prime ministers starting from Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, had appropriate advices given to them from time to time for guidance.
"May Allah SWT bare witness to my responsibilities to the leaders. I do not advise besides on the basis of love for the country, religion and race," he added.
Meanwhile, he said he upheld his respect towards the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and the Council of Rulers for their wisdom in deciding on the formation of government after the 15th General Election (GE15).
"To those who did not succeed, it's not the end of everything. There is a better fate for those who continue to be patient, sincere and istiqamah. Malaysia will not succeed without an opposition that does the checks and balances carefully.
"To Malaysians, all races and religions, this is what we went through in GE15. Take a breath and accept any decision wholeheartedly.
"Winning is not glorious, losing is not a downfall. Stop the culture of cursing each other. Don't make this a time for “revenge”,” he said.
