MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm warning in most states
SHAH ALAM - Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected throughout the country today, affecting most regions of Kedah, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak until 5pm this evening.
MetMalaysia in a statement issued at 2.45pm today said that in Selangor, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang while in Johor the same is expected in Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing and Kota Tinggi.
Meanwhile in Kedah heavy rain is expected in Padang Terap, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu and in much of Perak including Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah and Kampar.
Kelantan is also not expected to be spared heavy downpours today, especially in Jeli, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang, as is the case in Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemanan in Terengganu.
Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka are also expecting thunderstorms and heavy rain this evening.
In Sabah, the same weather conditions are expected in the interior Sipatang, Beaufort, Pantai Barat, Tawau, Sandakan and Kudat.
MetMalaysia, via its website, said that heavy rain is expected in Sarawak involving several areas Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu, Miri and Limbang.
