Fireside Chat: Quran and Hadith, recipe of success for Muslims

SHAH ALAM – Syariah scholar in Islamic Banking and Finance Dr Zaharuddin Abdul Rahman calls upon Muslim communities and states to rely on both Qur’an and Hadith as recipe of success.

In an exclusive interview on Sinar Daily’s Fireside Chat, he said he will be speaking on both external and internal factors of the fall of Muslims at The Straight Path Convention happening this weekend. “Most people blame others. They’d say, “this is because of the enemy of Islam doing this, their tricks, they are evil, these people, that person,” up to a point that they forgot to check on themselves,” he said.

The syariah law scholar reflected on the subject he looked forward to touch on in regards to Muslims not just on a personal level but as a collective.

He also expressed his intention to take listeners at the convention on a historical ride of Muslims’ whereabouts from the era of numerous Caliphates after that of the famous Khulafaa’ al-Rashideen.

“After the era of Khulafaa’ Al-Raashideen, what happened to the Muslims?

“Were they the role model of other nations? Or were they dealing with problems created by themselves?” he brought up a number of questions to ponder by fellow Muslims.

“We want to learn from that history. I’d like to also draw attention to the guidelines highlighted in the Qur’an and Hadith,” he added. In his opinion, history can change or be repeated.

He said one may do the same thing done by somebody earlier but end up with a different outcome thus, we need to rely on the Qur’an and Hadith.

Zaharuddin said The Straight Path annual weekend convention that focuses on bringing enriching international standard lectures on Islam based on authentic sources of both Qur’an and Sunnah.

The two day lecture includes both local and international speakers on the subject Wahn, which means giving so much attention to this worldly life, dunya over the Hereafter and fearing death instead of preparing for that moment of truth.

The convention is organised by Yayasan Ta’lim, a Malaysia-based foundation established to provide the right information and knowledge on Islam through various mediums including reading materials, classes and events such as the annual convention itself.

The theme is ‘Al-Wahn: Desiring Dunya, Belittling Hereafter’.

“It is good for Muslims who love to challenge their mind and lectures in English and who want to interact with both local and international scholars which they can do after some slots.

“This is great after couple years of lockdown and not being able to have such a physical event, so grab this opportunity,” he said.
