Calls for KJ to be appointed senator

SHAH ALAM - Despite his loss in GE15, a move to appoint Khairy Jamaluddin as a senator under the unity government has been initiated.

Political analyst Prof Dr Nik Ahmad Kamal decribed Khairy as a perfect leader and deserves to be in the unity government Cabinet.

"He (Khairy) should be given this opportunity, and people know him well despite his defeat in GE15," said Nik Ahmad.

According to Barisan Nasional (BN) Kedah communications secretary Syamil Halim, it is a reality that everyone admits, and Khairy performed successfully as a Health Minister during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"We could see Khairy's leadership during his tenure as Health Minister, where he successfully managed vaccinations for Malaysians," he said.

Syamil also said that Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican was another BN leader that should be considered for appointment as senator under the unity government.

"Even if he lost in GE15, he has done a lot, such as initiating the Rumah Ikram Keluarga Malaysia programme and there should be no issue for him to perform again as a senator," he said.

In a seven-cornered race for the Sungai Buloh constituency in GE15, Khairy lost to Pakatan Harapan's Datuk R Ramanan by 2,693 votes.

Reezal failed to defend his parliamentary seat in Kepala Batas.
