SHAH ALAM – Umno Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, popularly known as Tok Mat, is the most capable Deputy Prime Minister candidate.
Umno Youth Exco Datuk Muhamad Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin said the Rembau MP has the credibility and well accepted by the people and party.
He added that Mohamad’s experience as the Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar was also a major key point compared to the Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs.
“I am confident that the people can accept Tok Mat and that he can help the (Prime Minister) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in leading the unity government in dealing with the economic recession that is expected to occur next year.
“The current political challenges are very different and the dynamics of the 15th General Election (GE15) was quite extraordinary.
“A good and stable pairing could maintain the political stability of the country for years to come,” he said in a statement on Saturday.
Anwar had stated in a press conference that the position of the Deputy Prime Minister was expected to be given to the strongest bloc in the unity government, namely BN and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
He said it represented a common practice in each government to have various figures from other parties.
Muqharabbin expressed hope for Anwar to raise young leaders to the forefront and ensure no one was left behind.
“Among the leaders who need to be given space with the prime minister’s unity government under Pakatan Harapan (PH) are Lembah Pantai PH MP Fahmi Fadzil, Khairy Jamaluddin, Nurul Izzah Anwar and Umno deputy youth chief Shahril Hamdan among several other youth leaders.
“I only hope that the unity government could bring changes to the country towards a sustainable progress and restore investors’ confidence in Malaysia,” he said.
He also hoped the government could push for a harmonious administration with various races represented from the various parties involved.
He added any racist sentiments should be shut off immediately to avoid any issues on the ground.
