KOTA KINABALU – Sabah government leaves the decision to the Federal leadership to ensure the position of Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) for Sabah or otherwise.

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said he had not made any demands regarding the second most important position in the country through the unity government that was formed after the 15th General Election (GE15).

“We didn’t demand it, it is up to the government leadership in Putrajaya,” he said briefly to reporters after he tabled the 2023 Sabah Budget at the Sabah State Assembly Hall, here, on Friday.

He said this when asked about the position that Pakatan Harapan (PH) previously offered if they succeeded in leading the government in GE15.

Referring to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s statement regarding GRS’s decision to support the unity government, he was confident that the former prime minister understood that his coalition prioritised Sabah first.

“We are thinking about the interests of Sabah under GRS where we give priority towards Sabah. I thought Tan Sri knew about this and he is a smart man.

“I thought there were no problems because this was our decision in GRS,” he explained.

When asked about GRS cooperating with Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) the GRS chairman said it was going smoothly.
