PUTRAJAYA - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim attends his Friday prayers at Putra Mosque, here, on Friday.

Clad in pink Baju Melayu, Anwar arrived at the Putra Mosque around 1pm.

He was accompanied by Chief Secretary Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali and Jakim Deputy Director General Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee.

The prime minister shook hands with others before performing his sunat prayers and sat at the first row in the mosque.

He had previously clocked in earlier in the day to begin his first day at the Prime Minister's Office at 9.52am on Friday.

Anwar started his work this morning by scanning the time recorder card before he entered office.

The Tambun MP then chaired a meeting with the Chief Secretary.

The Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman had been sworn in as Malaysia's 10th Prime Minister in front of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on Thursday.

The ceremony was held after His Majesty refined the views of the Malay Kings to make the best decision in the interests and welfare of the country and the people five days after the official results of the 15th General Elections (GE15).

It was the first time in the country's history that the election results ended with a hung Parliament when no party or coalition gained a simple majority to form the Federal government.

GE15 witnessed the results of PH obtaining 82 seats, PN (73), BN (30), GPS (23), Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (six), Warisan (three), independent (two) while Parti Bangsa Malaysia and Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) each had one seat.

The order of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong was held and the result of negotiations between the parties agreed and supported the formation of a unity government led by PH.
