Clouded leopard caught after accidentally injures stroke patient
LIPIS - A clouded leopard was caught after it entered a home and accidentally injured a woman who suffered from a stroke in Kampung Sentang Pagar Sasak, here, yesterday.
The animal was caught by the Wildlife Protection Department and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) at 12.45am after being shot with a sedative.
Lipis District Police Chief Superintendent Azli Mohd Noor said he received a report on the incident at 6.45pm from the house owner's nephew regarding the incident.
He said following the information, the Pagar Sasak police went to the scene and found that the village residents had surrounded the tiger that was under a house.
"The tiger was believed to have entered the village area and was seen chasing a cat until it entered the house of a married couple aged 55 and 58 through the front door.
"During the incident, the owner was at home with his wife who was bedridden due to a stroke.
"Surprised by the presence of the leopard, the owner tried to chase it away, but it had jumped on the bed and scratched the woman's eyebrow," he said.
Azli said the victim suffered minor injuries and was sent to the Padang Tengku Health Clinic for treatment.
"The incident was informed to Lipis Perhilitan parties for further actions.
"The Perhilitan officers arrived around 8pm and the animal was successfully caught a few hours after," he said.
