SHAH ALAM - Malaysians have taken to social media to express their reaction to the appointment of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the 10th Prime Minister of the nation.

Many had been restless about who would finally be announced as the new prime minister following the political deadlock the nation had been in after the 15th General Election (GE15) on Nov 19.

After six days, the wait is finally over as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah announced that Anwar would be the next prime minister.

Several tags such as #Our PM, #10th Prime Minister and #PM10Malaysia had gone viral with at least 50,000 tweets on the social platform Twitter with Malaysians congratulating Anwar for his success, especially after 24 years of waiting.

Several Malaysians could be seen supporting Anwar to lead the country and some were even feeling emotional about the result as they mentioned how far he has risen to be where he is now.

They expressed their happiness and wished him the best for the changes he would bring to the nation.

Username @niellzikri tweeted “Finally! Let the changes begin. Reformasi!” and another user ‘justcallmepurple’ tweeted “Waited for days, now when it happened, I had goosebumps and in tears. I’m so happy, congratulations DSAI (Anwar Ibrahim)”.

“Anwar’s resurgence is something to be inspired by for many generations to come.
