Najib's camp demand explanation from Ismail Sabri
SHAH ALAM - Jailed former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's camp have demanded an explanation from former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob over a viral video of his political secretary and a former member of parliament plotting his downfall.
A posting aired on Najib's Facebook page which is run by an administrator today called for Ismail Sabri to explain the contents of a video circulating on social media, in which a voice, believed to be that of his political secretary Datuk Syed Mohd Fazmi Sayid Mohammad and former Jempol member of parliament Datuk Seri Salim Sharif are heard discussing a plot to end Najib's freedom.
In the video, Syed Mohd Fazmi is heard saying:"We need to kill 'Bossku's' (Najib's) credibility." To which Salim replied:"Surely, whatever it is he has to go in (to jail) first. If he is freed, he wants to be PM."
"This is very sad. This video has been circulating widely the past few days. We demand the names of those involved and for Ismail Sabri to provide an explanation," wrote Najib's Facebook page.
The posting stated that Barisan Nasional's dismal result in the 15th general elections could have been averted had former Prime Minister Najib been allowed to campaign.
The writer also claimed the former Prime Minister played a big role to topple the government under Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s administration to make way for Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in August 2021.
“Najib also played the most important role in overthrowing Muhyiddin's government. Najib also supported Ismail to become the ninth Prime Minister. The lack of aura and leadership at the national level, the spirit of 1Malaysia and Bossku was strongly felt throughout GE15,” read the posting.
Najib is currently serving a 12-year jail sentence in the Kajang Prison after being found guilty of seven counts of embezzlement involving RM42 million from SRC International - a former unit of 1Malaysia Development Berhad.
