KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia's quest for a medal ends on the last day of the International Bowling Federation (IBF) World Cup 2022 in Queensland, Australia, when they captured bronze in the women's team event today.

The Malaysian quartet of veteran Esther Chiah, Sin Li Jane, Natasha Roslan and Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman survived an intense five-game battle against Americans Jordan Richard, Bryanna Cote, Danielle McEwan and Stefanie Johnson to triumph three-two.

Malaysia won the first two games 226-204 and 219-182 before the Americans hit back to take the next two 226-192 and 248-220.

Luckily, the Malaysian girls managed to rise to the occasion in the fifth game to win by seven pinfalls, 235-228, and seal the bronze medal.

Earlier today, the national women's team failed to reach the final after losing three-one (190-237, 214-190, 207-240, 204-228) to Sweden.
