KOTA KINABALU – Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin implores all parties in the coalition to remain calm in facing the current political scenario in the country.

He asked all parties to trust the decision made by Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“On behalf of BN, I think we are committed to the opposition status as decided by the leadership.

“However, now the situation is different, we are the opposition and we have to make noise.

“I hope all parties can stay calm and for us in BN, I think we must stay calm and trust the president,” he said in the statement today.

The Kinabatangan MP described MCA’s call for Zahid to step down as BN chairman as a baseless statement.

He instead said MCA needed to ask themselves first how the party was only able to win two of the dozens of seats it contested in the 15th General Election (GE15) this time.

He said it was unfair to point fingers at only one leader when their own fault was not acknowledged and MCA was seen as disrespecting the institution of the President as the head of leadership in BN.

“MCA, don’t mess with this. They are still urging our chairman to resign even though they won only two seats out of the dozens of seats given to them which were the seats with the most Malay voters.

“Look at yourself first before making a decision, we in BN will remain calm in facing this situation, don’t confuse the situation,” he said.

MCA wanted the BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan to replace Zahid following the disclosure of a letter to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah that claimed the coalition was supporting Datuk Seri Anwar Ibnrahim as the 10th prime minister.
