AMPANG - Veteran Umno leader, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah believes that the view of Malays must be taken into account over the formation of the next government and also the appointment of the 10th Prime Minister.

He said, the sentiment of the Malays over the such matters must not be ignored as they make up over the 60 per cent of the country's population.

"Let's say if its [the PM] Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, he is the chairman of Pakatan Harapan (PH), a coalition consists of DAP, Amanah and PKR.

"Can Anwar control PH effectively? Even Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad himself failed to do so when he was the Prime Minister for the 22 months-old PH government.

"That too is without 122 seats. They need to get the numbers first, meaning, they need support from other parties too," said Tengku Razaleigh at a press conference at his official residence here, today.

He added that what's important was to gauge whether the people accepts or rejects the proposed leader.

"This is the biggest hurdle. It's not about DAP being together with Umno or Pas. It is also not about highlighting Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin or Anwar.

"It is actually about the views of the people," he stressed.
