'We will obey Zahid's decision', says Umno supporters

KUALA LUMPUR - About 60 Umno supporters said they will obey the decision made by the party's president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Clad in black shirts, the group led by Ben Ikhram, a Kuantan Umno member said they have gathered at Menara Dato' Onn, here, to show solidarity to Zahid.

“Zahid became the president because of his supporters, we are here to support him.

“We accept whatever decisions he is going to make today,” Ben told reporters outside the building, today.

By 2pm today, leaders of political parties and coalitions must inform Istana Negara of the agreed combination of political parties to form the next government and submit the name of the prime minister candidate.

Yesterday, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah granted an extension of the deadline for the submissions.

The deadline which was supposed to be at 2pm, yesterday, has been extended to 2pm, today.

The extension was granted upon the request by some political parties.
