ALOR SETAR - Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) has been invited to return to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) or join any existing Malay parties including Pas.

Kedah Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said this was due to the fact that people were fed up with the disunity of Malay parties causing the existence of too many parties supported by the Malays.

The Pas election director said the people's rejection was reflected through the results of the15th General Election (GE15) which witnessed heavyweights in Pejuang being defeated besides failing to win any parliamentary seats.

"It is not suitable for Malay parties to be divided. The Malays couldn't afford to separate again. I think Pejuang should think about joining any available Malay parties, including Pas.

"Perjuang originally was in Bersatu, they then became Pejuang. Just return to your roots," he said in a press conference after a Kedah PN programme at the Kedah Pas Complex, on Sunday.

GE15 witnessed Pejuang's heavyweights including its chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad failing to secure even a single parliamentary seat.

Dr Mahathir lost in Langkawi, while his son who is Pejuang president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir lost in Jerlun. The father son duo had lost to PN candidates.

Sanusi said Pejuang could emulate the Semangat 46 party which was previously pioneered by Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah who returned to Umno after leaving the party.

"Semangat 46 was able to return to Umno. However, because of the political tsunami, Tengku Razaleigh lost despite serving for 11 terms. This was the first time he lost in Gua Musang.

"The people no longer want it, they want a government that is stable and clean," he said.

The Kedah Menteri Besar said at this point, the momentum of PN was seen to be on the right track and was accepted by the people, which could be seen through the GE15 results.

"Alhamdulillah, our country is heading towards the right direction. I hope all MPs would form a government that understands the people's aspirations, to always remain caring, clean and prioritising stability," he said.
