GE15: Padang Serai candidate urges Zahid to resign
SHAH ALAM - Another Barisan Nasional (BN) member has come forward to persuade their president to step down.
BN's candidate for Padang Serai Datuk Sivaraj Chandran urges the party’s president Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi to resign from his position.
He said the result of the 15th General Election (GE15) sends a clear message that it is time for Zahid to give way to other leaders to steer the party.
He said this following BN’s fall in the GE15 on Saturday.
"Do what is best for the party, Datuk Seri," he said.
Earlier, several Umno leaders had called for Ahmad Zahid to resign from his position and accept responsibility for the coalition's electoral defeat as well as to put the party's interests first.
Among them were former National Unity Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique, Umno Youth vice-head Shahril Sufian Hamdan, Johor BN election operations director Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Kulai BN deputy chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor and Umno Youth exco member Datuk Muhamad Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin.
