KOTA KINABALU - Warisan lost six seats in Labuan due to political tsunami, says its president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal.

However, he said Warisan accepts the people's decision to elect new representatives.

"I am aware and I know that Warisan lost some seats in certain areas that we should have been able to defend.

"But I'm also aware of the political tsunami in our country. However, we accept the voting pattern and we respect the decision made by voters," he said during a press conference at Warisan headquarters in Kolombong here, today.

On coopreting with other parties to form a government, he said the interests of Sabahans comes first.

"As I stated at initial stages, I reiterate the importance of Sabah as a Borneo Bloc. Although the number is small, and we only won three seats, but it can still increase the political stability in this country," he said.

Warisan's support was crucial to ensure political stability as the country faces economic problems next year as the world faces economic recession.

He also said this election shows that his party was still not fully accepted by the people of Peninsula.

"There were thousands of votes in Pandan and Wangsa Maju, so we cannot say that there was no acceptance at all.

"The election requires process and time for the people and voters to get to know who the candidate is, what party they want to vote for and also the content of the manifesto," he said.
