GE15: EC chairman arrives at Istana Negara to meet Agong

KUALA LUMPUR - Election Commission (EC) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh arrives at Istana Negara here, today.

He was seen entering Gate 2 of Istana Negara in a black Toyota Camry at about 1.05pm today.

It is understood that he would inform the Yang di-Pertuan Agong about the latest developments in the 15th General Election (GE15) process yesterday.

Meanwhile, many media practitioners had gathered in front of the gate to get more information after GE15 which was now focused on the government formation process once the official GE15 results had been presented to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong was also expected to call party leaders for an audience with him to explain the position of the party bloc coalition.

Based on the results announced by the EC on its website, Pakatan Harapan (PH) won 82 seats, while Perikatan Nasional (PN) won 73 seats with a total of 222 parliamentary seats contested.

Meanwhile, Barisan Nasional (BN) only won 30 seats, followed by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) (22), Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) (six), Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) (three), Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM). (one) and Independent candidates (two).
