GE15: EC presents election results to Sultan of Perak
IPOH - The Perak Election Commission (EC) seeks an audience with Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah at Istana Kinta, today.
The meeting which lasted for about an hour was to present the official results of the 15th General Election (GE15) for the state's Parliament and the State Legislative Assembly seats.
Perak EC director Mohd Nazri Ismail earlier arrived at the palace at about 10.23am and left at about 11.25am.
The state had 24 parliamentary constituencies and 59 State Legislative Assembly seats.
In GE15, Perikatan Nasional (PN) had successfully won 26 State Legislative Assembly seats, Pakatan Harapan (PH) won 24 seats and BN (nine seats).
The results showed that no coalition gained a simple majority which was 30 seats to form the government.
EC data showed that until Oct 9, a total of 2,036,872 people were registered as voters in Perak.
From the total, 2,005,362 were ordinary voters, military personnel and their spouses (19,076), police personnel and their spouses (12,215) as well as voters abroad (219).
