SHAH ALAM - A new history has been made in the nation’s political landscape this 15th General Election (GE15).

Barisan Nasional (BN) lost its grip on Perlis to Perikatan Nasional (PN) since the state had its first election nearly seven decades ago.

The first election was held pre-independence back in 1955, hence it has become a big surprise when PN wins 14 out of 15 assembly states today.

The Election Commission (EC) chief Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh announced that PN has won all three parliamentary seats which are Padang Besar, Kangar and Arau as well as the 14 assembly state seats.

The 14 seats included Titi Tinggi, Berseri, Chuping, Mata Ayer, Santan, Bintong, Sena, Kuala Perlis, Kayang, Pauh, Tambun Tulang, Guar Sanji, Simpang Empat and Sanglang.

The only seat PN did not win was the Indera Kayangan assembly state seat which was won by PH candidate, Gan Ay Ling.

Earlier, Pas deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man tweeted “Alhamdulillah PN Perlis” on his official account as the result was announced.
