The result was announced by Titiwangsa returning officer Firdzaus Said at the Bestari Hall of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Aminuddin Baki at 12.10am today.
After the announcement, Johari immediately thanked the voters of Titiwangsa for giving him the mandate and promised to continue doing his best for the constituency.
"I wish to thank the people of Titiwangsa, especially the voters. Though I was not elected during the GE14, I continued to serve the people here and all the hard work has paid off today.
"I was always with the people here for four years and six months and finally my efforts were recognised and rewarded. The trust given by the people to serve them for another five years is a gift that I will cherish,” he told reporters after the results were announced.
The former second Finance Minister beat Khalid Abdul Samad who managed 20,410 votes while Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Dr Rosni Adam had (14,518) votes and Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan from (Pejuang) received 888 votes.
The constituency had 80,747 registered voters but only 60, 858 turned out to vote today. There were 512 spoilt votes.
Johari had won the Titiwangsa seat during GE13 but lost to Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun from PH during the GE14 by 4,139 votes. - BERNAMA
