GE15: Azmin fails to defend Gombak, lost to Amirudin

GOMBAK - Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali fails to defend the Gombak parliamentary seat after losing to Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Amirudin, who was the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate defeated four other candidates with a majority of 12,729 votes.

He obtained 72,267 votes followed by Azmin (PN) with 59,538 while Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin from BN 30,723 votes, Datuk Dr Aziz Jamaludin Mhd Tahir (Pejuang) 2,223 votes and Ir Zulkifli Ahmad (Independent) 675 votes.

The decision also saw Zulkifli lose his deposit money after he failed to get one-eighth of the total votes.

For the record, Gombak was held by Azmin on a PH ticket for three terms.

In GE14, Azmin won with a majority of 48,721 and defeated BN candidate Datuk Rahim Kamarudin and Khairul Nizam Khirudin (Pas).

In the meantime, Amirudin informed through a short video said he was on his way to the Gombak GE15 vote tallying center at SMK Sungai Pusu from his residence in Shah Alam.
