GOMBAK - A polling center in Gombak is reported to have lost electricity on Saturday.

The incident was reported to have occurred at Kolej Vokasional Gombak here at around 8.20pm, due to lightning.

The matter was confirmed by the Gombak Parliament Election Commission (EC) Managing Officer Nor Azlina Abd Aziz who said the power outage occurred for two minutes when they were counting the ballot papers.

"However, no serious damage detected and the issue was resolved immediately before we continued counting the ballot papers," she said commenting on a video of the viral blackout incident on social media.

She said the voting process in Kolej Vokasional Gombak had completed and the votes were on their way to the vote tallying center at SMK Sungai Pusu at 10.30pm.

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) through its Twitter page had announced the blackout was due to an internal damage.

"The electricity supply is in good condition. The power outage was due to an internal damage on the user's side as confirmed by the EC," the tweet said.
