YAN - Police receive nine reports from individuals who claim they failed to cast their ballots in the 15th General Election (GE15) in Kedah today because their identity cards are used by other individuals.

Kedah Police Chief, Datuk Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad said two police reports were made in Sungai Petani, two in Baling, two in Kubang Pasu and one each in Alor Setar, Yan and Kulim.

"So far we have found that there are nine individuals who went to cast their votes but found that the identity card had been used by someone else.

"We are making a review with the Election Commission (EC) and the investigation papers will be opened," he said when met by reporters on Saturday.

Wan Hassan had earlier inspected the voting process at Sekolah Kebangsaan Matang Buluh. here.

Wan Ahmad said the would be investigated under Section 7 of the Election Offences Act 1954.

Sinar Harian on Saturday reported that a senior citizen Zaleha Abdul Rahman, 75, lodged a police report after she claimed that she could not vote because her name was already registered to vote in Kota Sarang Semut.

Zaleha was surprised when the EC informed her that her identity card number had already been used to vote.
