KOTA KINABALU - The last voter Roslan @ Abd Razak Masran, 59, is forced to leave his vehicle at the side of the road after realising that he is the last voter at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Cina (SKJ) Chung Hwa Kota Kinabalu.

With only three minutes before the 15th General Election comes to a close, Roslan rushed into the school to cast his vote where he received the cheers from the Election Commission officers as he made his way to the centre.

Roslan said he had a family matter to attend to before coming to the polling centre to cast his vote.

He said he did not want to miss the opportunity to vote and felt it was his responsibility as a Malaysian to do so.

"I want to perform my rights as a Malaysian," he said to Sinar at the polling centre grounds on Saturday.

Another voter Siti Liza Salim, 23, stated her excitement of voting for the first time but had to go to the polling centre in the evening as she wanted to go there together with her husband.

"I was worried that we might not make it, luckily the roads were not congested, so we were able to vote at the very last minute.

"I did not sleep since yesterday because I was so excited about today. I stayed up thinking what to wear and which handbag to bring.

"I was well prepared, but in the end, I was still late," said Siti, who arrived at the polling centre at 5.05pm.

Another voter Ruslan Ahmad, 60, said he arrived late at the polling centre as he had to attend to his work commitment.

"I couldn't vote in the morning as I was working. So, I came here during my break as I have an hour and a half to travel here and cast my vote.

"Fortunately, the voting process only took a moment because it was late in the evening and the situation was quite relaxed," he said.

Observations from Sinar saw the EC officers closing the gates at the polling centre at exactly 5.30pm marking the end of the GE15 voting day.
