LARUT - Perikatan Nasional (PN) will have a special meeting this evening to discuss matters concerning the postponed electoral bout in Perak's state assembly of Tioman.

The meeting needed to be done following the death of PN candidate, Md Yunus Ramli earlier today.

According to PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin the meeting would involve the upper echelons in the coalition.

"Today we will have a meeting and will discuss about the new candidate to be fielded there." said Hamzah when met after he cast his ballot at the polling centre in Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Bayor.

Hamzah added that Pas would be given the priority over the Tioman eat given how Md Yunus was from the Islamist party

"If Pas says yes, we have a candidate, then we would continue in this arrangement.

"Nonetheless, it does not matter whether the candidate is from Pas, Bersatu or Gerakan's seat, what's important is that we would find a candidate with caliber," he said.

Md Yunus, 61, was reported to have died from heart complications at 3.30AM
